No Christmas Lights in Pikangikum

Children in a Northwestern Ontario First Nation community won’t enjoy the
twinkle of Christmas lights this year.
Former Chief Dean Owen says the community’s diesel power
generator is obsolete and is limiting the festivities in Pikangikum.
Owen says increasing energy demand on the community’s
11-hundred-kilowatt generator makes it impossible for residents to
turn on their Christmas lights.
