No COVID Spread At Red Lake School

Some encouraging news for staff and students at the Golden Learning Centre in Red Lake.

A positive COVID-19 case was reported at the school on September 18.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon is the Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health Unit.

She says “Case and contact follow-up is complete and we have not seen any further cases as a result of that situation.”

Dr. Kit Young Hoon says it shows a school setting can be a safe place as long as everyone is trying to follow good public health measures.

The Health Unit reported two new COVID-19 cases in the past week, one in the Dryden-Red Lake District and the other in the Rainy River area.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon says they are still following up with known contacts.

She notes the Dryden-Red Lake case was acquired from out of province.

There have been 51 confirmed cases since the pandemic started.
