No Local Grocery Stores Approved For Beer/Wine Sales

Wine and beer connoisseurs in the Kenora and Rainy River District won’t be able to head to their local grocery store to pick up their favourite beverage.

The government has authorized 76 new independent and large grocery stores to stock their shelves with alcoholic beverages starting June 30th.

However, the only two locations approved by the province in the northwest are in Thunder Bay.

They are the Metro store on River Street and the Walmart Superstore on Memorial.

This is the second round of beer-liquor grocery store announcements.

Last October, the province approved Fresh Market Foods in Sioux Lookout to sell alcohol.
