A working smoke alarm saved a family of four this morning.
Dryden, Oxdrift and Wabigoon fire crews were called to a house fire on Airport Road in Dryden around 3:30.
Firefighters noticed flames coming from the rear and through the roof of the older 2-storey home.
Crews battled the stubborn blaze for 90-minutes and spent another 2-hours putting out hot spots.
Deputy Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the cause is centred around the wood burning fireplace.
Kurz says the main floor was a total loss, with smoke and heat damage throughout the home.
No One Injured in Serious Fire
