No Timeline For Second COVID Wave

The Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health Unit is expecting additional coronavirus cases in our area this fall and winter.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon says that’s a time when respiratory illnesses tend to get worse anyway.

However, she can’t say if that’s when a second wave will hit.

“It’s hard to really predict of course exactly what’s going to happen. There is a lot of conversation about the fact that COVID-19 is going to be with us for a few years, maybe two to three years.”

Dr. Kit Young Hoon adds “It might come as a second wave or it might come as a series of small waves. I think that there is a lot of uncertainty. At this time public health, at a federal and provincial level, will be looking at what’s happening in other countries and providing us with support locally.”
