The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is applauding a
3-year, $220-million aid package for the forest industry.
President Michael Power says the money will help defray the cost of
building and maintaining access roads and reduce stumpage fees.
Power says the announcement proves the McGuinty Liberals are serious
about stabilizing the forest industry and helping Northern Ontario.
He says NOMA will continue to work with both levels of senior
government to ensure the forest sector remains viable in the North.
