The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is the latest group to applaud the government on allowing the construction of 6-storey wood frame buildings.
President Dave Canfield says the decision is partly due to the strong relationship the region has with Premier Kathleen Wynne.
Canfield says the announcement could have huge implications on the regional forestry industry.
He notes the new regulations will help create stability.
Canfield stresses he’s been stressing for the move for over 4-years.
