Even though the price of lumber is at its highest rate in 5 years, there are some 4,000 forestry workers still out of work in this region.
Dennis Brown, President of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association, says a solution is needed now.
Brown wants the Minister of Natural Resources to get more involved to find a solution.
He will meet with Northern Development Minister Rick Bartolucci to discuss NOMA’s concerns but admits there’s no fast solution to get the workers back.
The industry contributes $1.7 billion annually to the regional economy.
