NOMA Delegates Kept Busy

11-resolutions approved by the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association are now being handed over to the Provincial and Federal Government’s.
The resolutions were drafted during the recent NOMA Conference in Marathon.
Municipal leaders are calling on the Province to raise the speed limit on local Highway’s by 10-kilometres an hour.
President Anne Krassilowsky says the resolution also calls for more scenic pullouts as well as additional public washrooms and garbage bins.
NOMA is also asking for a minimum of 1-additional seat for Northern Ontario in the House of Commons and for the Province to reconsider the implementation of the Harmonized Sales tax.
Krassilowsky says they want FedNor to become a stand alone economic agency for the North, with funding increased to $90-million.
Other requests include an increase in the Northern Communities Grant and to move ahead with the Little Jackfish hydro-electric project across the North.
