NOMA Disappointed With Energy East Cancellation

A TransCanada decision to scrap the Energy East Pipeline Project may force a regional lobby group to take action.

The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association has maintained moving oil by pipeline is safer compared to train.

President Wendy Landry says they will now be pressing the Federal government to force trains to slow down when passing through area communities.

Landry says whether by rail or pipeline, oil will always be transported through northwestern Ontario.

She calls the cancellation of Energy East disappointing.
