Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association President Dave Canfield is weighing in on discussions with the CEO of Resolute Forest products.
During a town hall meeting in Thunder Bay, Canfield says he got the impression Resolute is still in favour of keeping the shuttered Fort Frances mill alive.
Canfield says Richard Garneau commented the mill would not be destroyed and the wood rights would be made available.
The town hall meeting was focused on forestry in the region.
A second meeting is planned for Wednesday in Atikokan.
