NOMA Hoping to Set Up Regional Body

The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is hoping to establish
an agency to help build the economy of the Region.
NOMA has released a report entitled ‘Enhancing the Economy of
Northwestern Ontario’ and one of the main recommendations is to set up a
Regional Development Authority.
President Michael Power says the Region’s population has been
shrinking and unless municipal politicians do something, the situation
will only get worse.
Power says the Provincial or Federal levels of Government have done
nothing to help the local economy.
He wants the Province to give the Region tax breaks and an energy policy.
