NOMA Taking Aim At Environmental Groups

Two regional groups, made up of municipal leaders, continue to denounce claims by environmental groups.

The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association and the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities are shutting down claims by activists that say the government isn’t doing enough to save Woodland Caribou.

They are speaking out to say that the caribou’s turf hasn’t declined in the last few decades and that they are returning to previously harvested areas.

They feel its dangerous to level accusations without a proper understanding of the caribou situation in the region.

Officials say climate change might be the single greatest threat to the caribou habitat and not forestry practices.
