Member municipalities of the Northwest Ontario Recycle Association, including Dryden, have passed bylaws to dissolve NORA as of June 30th.
NORA’s massive debt is now estimated at more than 600-thousand dollars and all communities
will have to pay their fair share.
Dryden City Councillor Brian England, who sits in the NORA board, says also beyond June 30th, the organization will also have to clean up the recycling plant and equipment and sell off all of its assets.
Kenora and Sioux Lookout have decided to do their own recycling.
Dryden, Atikokan and Fort Frances are in the process of setting up a combined recycling group.
