North Side of Thunder Bay Experience Power Outage

Some extensive repairs are needed after an explosion at Thunder Bay Hydro’s Balsam Street sub-station.
According to Hydro officials, a bird flew into the transformer at the sub station, causing a major power outage yesterday.
Thunder Bay Hydro spokesperson Eileen Dias says nearly 17,000 people were without power at one point.
Dias says the loss of power affected the north side of the city and most residents have since had their power restored.
