Troy Sherman scored the winning goal late in the third period for the Thunder Bay North Stars in a 4-3 win over the English River Miners Thursday night in Red Lake.
English River has now lost five straight games on home ice.
Kole Comin, Jamie Driedger and Matt O’Neill scored for the Miners.
Michael Lenko made 43-saves in the loss.
The two teams are back at it Friday at 7:30.
Thunder Bay is now five points ahead of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs for first in the SIJHL.
