North Stars Win Opener at Dudley Hewitt Cup

Dan Usiski was the hero in overtime as the Fort William North Stars tripped up the host Soo Thunderbirds 3-2 in the opening game of the Dudley Hewitt Cup.
Usiski scored 2:19 into the extra frame.
Randall Hanlan tied the contest with 5:30 left to play, while Kyle Bruckleman also found the back of the net.
Soo went 1-9 on the power play.
In the other game on opening day, the favorite Oakville Blades romped the Abitibi Eskimos 6-0.
