It was a tight one at the Gardens Tuesday night, as the Thunder Bay North Stars opened the SIJHL playoffs with a 3-1 victory over the English River Miners.
Daniel McKitrick’s second period goal turned out to be the game winner for the North Stars.
Alex Maticic scored the Miners lone goal.
Greg Harney kept his team in the game with 53-saves.
Game 2 in the Best of 5 opening round series goes Wednesday night at the Gardens at 6:30 central.
