Big hits, bigger hearts, and… yes, I won a big TV.
Dryden felt like hockey’s hometown this past week as the Northern Bands Hockey Tournament rolled into the Dryden Memorial Arena for days of packed stands, tight games, and that “everyone’s‑here” feeling you can only get during tournament week. Livestreams started rolling early in the week on the tournament’s official channel, and by the weekend you could feel the playoff energy in the building and online.
Day 1 NBHT, B Side Finals.
On the ice
If you were between rinks and streams, you probably caught some of the same highlights I did. One TikTok clip making the rounds showed the Fort Hope 64’s topping the Mishkeegogamang Falcons 8–3 as they pushed toward the playoff rounds, an early signal that the 64’s had their scoring touch dialed in.
Win for 64’s
Finals day brought wall‑to‑wall action. On the B‑side, a stream from the Dryden Memorial Arena captured Sachigo Warriors vs. Cat Lake Snipers in the championship game—loud building, hard checks, and tournament finish vibes.

Off the Ice: An Arena Scavenger Hunt…and your girl brought home a 50″ Smart TV!
Tournament week wasn’t just hockey. The side events were plenty, and I jumped into the scavenger hunt for fun. It paid off, I walked away with a 50‑inch Smart TV. No, I didn’t plan my living room around this, and yes, it barely fit in the back seat. Consider this heartfelt thanks to the organizers and sponsors who make the off‑ice pieces so much fun for players and fans alike!

Community snapshots
- The arena atmosphere was classic Northern Bands: fan sections mixing community colours with tournament tees, plus a lot of friendly reunions on the concourse between games. The NBHT channel pushed out “first day” highlights that set the tone early. NBHT Day 1
- By the weekend, you could hop between live streams and in‑person games without missing a beat, one window on the phone for the B‑side Final while you line up for coffee, another tab for clips from teams pushing through Saturday brackets. 64’s

Final whistle
However, your team finished, thanks for making Dryden sound and feel like hockey central for a week, you enjoyed you stay! Dryden Looks forward to seeing you again next year!
Soon we’ll turn the page to spring skates and summer ball. Until then, I’m off to mount an 50‑inch in the living room!
