A spokesperson with the Northwestern Ontario District Chambers of Commerce says the current system of trades training doesn’t work very well in small and northern communities.
Charla Robinson says the provincial apprentice system needs to be overhauled.
Robinson says it’s hard to make sure that we are getting enough people trained to meet the current demand.
She brought up the issue at a meeting with politicians at Queen’s Park this week.
Robinson believes the provincial government was open to her concerns.
