The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation is touting its internship program.
Over the last two years, the Heritage Fund has invested over $11 million, allowing the public and private sectors to hire graduates.
Chair Michael Gravelle says that translates into well over $26,000 that the government is putting into each job. He says the program helps young people get placements, who may have otherwise not been able to find work in the north, let alone stay here.
Gravelle adds about 60 per cent of interns are brought on full-time after their placements. (Photo: Caryn Ceolin)
