Northern Leaders Discuss OPP Pay Hike

A 5% pay increase for the OPP has Northern politicians upset.
Red Lake Mayor Phil Vinet says policing costs continue to rise on a yearly basis and notes the Province can’t continue to download policing costs onto Municipalities.
Vinet stresses he appreciates the work of officers but notes the Government must do something to help communities with the increasing costs.
Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs says the pay increase is “irresponsible” when other public sectors workers are expected to have their wages frozen.
