Northern MP Not Sold On Gun Licence Changes

A northwestern Ontario MP is questioning the Harper government’s motives behind proposed changes to Canada’s gun laws.
The proposed bill includes a change in permits gun owners now need to own and purchase firearms.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP John Rafferty suspects there’s a political reason for why the Conservatives are talking about changes to the laws now.
He says the party is losing support across the country and suggests they are just trying to gain votes.
Rafferty says he has some concerns with the proposed bill, given it will eliminate the need for separate permits to transport restricted or prohibited firearms.
