Northern MPP Reacts To Fall Sitting At Queen’s Park

The NDP is expressing disappointment with the recent session at Queen’s Park.

Thunder Bay-Superior North MPP Lise Vaugeois says there were a lot of things that were not good for the people of Ontario.

“We’ve seen a number of bills that either attacked peoples rights under the Charter or bills that undermine democratic participation.

She cites the legislation giving extended powers to municipal mayors and the bill that forced a contract on education workers as examples.

Vaugeois says municipalities weren’t consulted on legislation to bring minority rule to municipal councils.

She says the decision undermines the elected authority of local governments.

Vaugeois is expecting more of the same from the Progressive Conservatives in the new year but stresses the opposition will continue to push back.
