New census data indicates those aged 65 and older, make up 16.1%
of Dryden’s population, up from 13.2% in 2001.
The 2006 census also shows those from the baby boomer generation
account for 31.4% of the population of Dryden.
Seniors are also making up a larger proportion of the population in
Kenora, Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, Machin, Pickle Lake, Ignace and Ear
Falls.
The population in Red Lake and Sioux Lookout is getting younger with
more baby busters and children of boomers living in the 2-communities.
