Many cities in the American West are facing water shortages and Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton believes some may turn north for help.
In a recent proposal, Fargo, North Dakota officials thought diverting water from Lake of the Woods to their city was a viable option.
Hampton notes any such plan would need the approval of the International Joint Commission which has representatives from both sides of the border.

Hampton adds municipalities along international bodies of water need to be on guard and pay attention to these issues as they arise since many western U-S cities are almost running dry.
