NTAB Looks at Current Situation in North

If you want a job in Northwestern Ontario, the mining sector seems to be where its at.
Sonja Wainio is the Executive Director of the Northwest Training and Adjustment Board and she says their biggest job now is to re-train forestry workers.
She says they also want to see if there is a way to re-vamp apprenticeship programs to attract more young people.
Wainio stresses the current apprentice model is over 70 years old.
She notes they will be talking to local employers in the weeks ahead to also get their feedback about what kinds of skilled trades are most needed in this region.
