NTAB Notes More Regional Jobs Created In 2016

More jobs were created in northwestern Ontario last year than were lost.

That’s one of the key statistics from the annual Employer-One survey carried out by the Northwest Training and Adjustment Board.

Sonia Wainio is the executive director and says surprisingly most of the new jobs were permanent.

Wainio says the lack of skilled employees continues to be one of the biggest issues for local employers, followed by a lack of workers with good customer service skills.

She also mentions when it comes to mining says while lots of jobs have been created in the Rainy River District because of New Gold, it’s created gaps elsewhere.
