The Town of Ignace is seeing some increased activity as the Nuclear Waste Management Organization constructs a new office at Market Square.
Work on the office is expected to conclude in February.
The new space provides more room for board meetings, offices and equipment.
Mayor Lee Kennard expects to see more company representatives in Ignace for meetings and further exploration.
Kennard says nine communities are still in the running to be a host site for nuclear waste and notes any decision likely won’t come down for another six to eight years.
The Organization have been renting a smaller office for the past four years.
