The Northwestern Health Unit has hired Dr. Monika Dutt
to take over the position of Medical Officer of Health.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield will retire from the post at the end
of this month.
Dutt has agreed to be the health unit’s acting Medical
Officer of Health starting January 1st.
NWHU Board Chair John Albanese says the new recruit has
worked in Northern Ontario, and obtained her Doctor of
Medicine from Queen’s University.

Dutt will start full time in the summer of 2008, because
she is currently finishing her final year in the Community
Medicine Residency Program at the University of Toronto.
The Ministry of Health has the final word on whether or
not Dutt will be appointed the acting MOH for the region.
