NWHU Says It Is Too Early To Tell If Flu Season Will Be Worse Than Usual

The Northwestern Health Unit says it can’t actually pinpoint when the peak of flu season will hit our area.

A medical expert in Toronto has reported that this flu season is shaping up to be a nasty one.

Supervisor of Infectious Disease with the Health Unit, Shannon Brown, says there’s no real way to tell if it will be more severe this year compared to other years.

She notes there has been media coverage of the flu season being worse than usual in Australia, noting sometimes what they see helps us predict what we will see in our Fall and Winter, but is not always consistent.

Brown encourages everyone to take precautions and get your flu shot.
