NWHU Talks Proposed Changes To Nutrition Lables

The rates of obesity across northwestern, Ontario are rising and pose a concern.
This follows Canada’s Health Minister proposing changes for nutrition information on packaged foods.
Registered Dietician from the Northwestern Health Unit, Julie Slack explains what Health Canada wants to change.
Slack says they want to change the look of the actual nutrition facts table, so that foods that Canadians may want to consume more of are at the top of the label.
They also want to group all the different kind of sugars together, so it’s more accurate on an ingredient list.
She also applauds them on wanting to make the serving sizes more consistent.
Slack adds that people should be eating more of the foods that don’t have labels.
