The executive director of the Sunset Country Travel Association believes tourism in the region will take a dive once new passport regulations for Americans kick in by 2008.
Gerry Cariou believes many Americans already think it is difficult to cross the international border.

However, Cariou notes if the Canadian government decides not to ask Americans for passports at the border that could work in Canada’s favour.
Cariou adds the tourism industry could tell Americans it is their government asking for passports to return home.
