There was a slight increase in the number of people unemployed in Northwestern Ontario in December.
Human Resources Canada says the jobless rate stood at 5.9 percent last month compared to 5.8 percent the month before.
Labour Market Analyst Carol Brown says more people entered the labour force, resulting in the slight increase.
She adds a small increase in the number of people working in the services-producing sector offset a small loss in the goods-producing sector.
