It is with great sadness that the family of Odile Josephine Erickson announces her death. Many of her close friends and family knew her as “Pinuccia.” She lived courageously and gracefully with Multiple Sclerosis for the last 19 years.
Odile was bom in St. Vincent, Aosta, Italy on February 20, 1946. She came with her family to Canada in 1950 and settled in Dryden in 1956. She lived her life with great passion and creativity. As a young woman, her aspirations were to be an architect or fashion designer. She was a talented artist, gifted poet, science fiction aficionado and diligent student of the Bible. As a family we appreciated her devotion as a mother, grandmother, sister and daughter.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “If we could see when and where we are to meet again, we would be more tender when we bid our friends goodbye.” Odile was inspired by this quote and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her appreciate that that is how she chose to live her life, even under very difficult circumstances. She will be sorely missed.
Odile is survived by her son John (Tara) of Dryden, her grandson Logan of Wicklow, Ireland, her mother Ines Morise of Dryden, her sister Osvalda (Gordon) Franklin of Dryden, her brother Henry (Gloria) Morise of Ear Falls, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Michael, her father Joe Morise.
Visitation will be held Friday April 8, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 9th, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Dryden Community Funeral Home, with Claude Zappitelli officiating.
