OFIA Not Impressed With Proposed Reduction

A reckless move.
That’s what the President of the Ontario Forest Industries Association is calling a proposed 24% reduction to the Ontario Forest Roads Program.
The reduction was contained in the provincial budget but is now on hold due to the election.
Jamie Lim says it’s going to have grave impacts in the North.
Lim says people will be without jobs and small businesses will lose money.
She notes the reduction comes at a time when Canada’s renewable forest sector is set to generate an additional 20 billion dollars in economic activity by 2020.
Kim adds in February the government stressed the program would not be reduced.
