‘Old Rusty’ Goes Out In Style

When businesses retire their vehicles due to age and move on to another source of transportation there isn’t usually any sort of fanfare to celebrate the retired vehicle…..unless it’s a vehicle at Hoover Electric in Dryden.

Becky Hoover and the staff at Hoover Electric knew it was time for one of their service vehicles to have its keys hung up. To mark the legacy of the vehicle and inspire the community to give to the Dryden Food Bank, Hoover Electric parked ‘Old Rusty’ out front of their business, decorated with balloons and banner inviting the Dryden area to fill up ‘Old Rusty’ with non perishable food items. Old Rusty even went ‘on tour’ and made appearances last week at Safeway, Extra Foods and Walmart where more donations were received.

We are told that as of late Thursday afternoon (Old Rusty’s last day) 712 lbs of food and $980.30 in cash were raised and delivered to the Dryden Food Bank!!

Thank you Hoover Electric! Thank you to all those who gave!

Thank you to ‘Old Rusty’! You can now rest in…..pieces.

Well done everyone…..
