OMA Supporting Revamped Mining Act

The provincial government is getting kudos for bringing the Mining Act into the 21st Century.
Changes have been approved by the provincial government.
Chris Hodgson is President of the Ontario Mining Association and says allowing map-staking is a step in the right direction.
Hodgson says the changes mean prospectors won’t have to be on the ground to file their claims.
Hodgson says the new Mining Act also clarifies the process for informing first nations communities about exploration activity in their traditional territory.
He adds it will also help junior mining companies.
