The Ontario Nurses’ Association says it has won a precedent-setting arbitration award against the Ontario Hospital Association, striking down a requirement that health care workers wear masks if they don’t get a flu shot.
The arbitrator in the case ruled the policy to be “unreasonable and coercive”.
It impacts a hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, but could be far reaching.
Several Ontario hospitals and health care facilities began implementing similar policies over the past few years as part of prevention programs.
