The Ontario Nurses Association says things will steamroll ahead if people don’t stand up and speak up about what’s important to them in their community.
The ONA says Local Health Integration Networks need to be held accountable for the decisions being made.
Spokesperson Vicki McKenna says she’s worried that LHIN’s are headed in the direction of moving some services from smaller communities to more central markets.
McKenna says that will make it more difficult for patients to receive care and will tax an already overworked health care system in larger markets.
McKenna says the public needs to be involved in telling LHIN’s and other health care providers what they think about the level of care being offered.
