Online Map Launched To Help Catch Poachers

The provincial government is taking enforcement of conservation laws to a new level by introducing an online map of cold cases involving poaching.

It has become a serious concern for conservation officers in the Ear Falls and Sioux Lookout areas.

Ron Arnold says the tool pinpoints areas in the province where such incidents remain unsolved.

Arnold says they are hoping the initiative jogs some memories and encourages individuals to come forward with tips.

He notes the online map shows northwestern Ontario has its share of unsolved cases and more are expected as the program develops.

Arnold calls it a great way to bring these incidents to the forefront.
