Drivers in Ontario could face a host of new fines and penalties for such things as impaired driving and distracted driving.
The provincial government is introducing legislation that includes fines for distracted driving increasing to between $300-$1,000.
Motorists would also be charged for impaired if they are under the influence of drugs like marijuana.
The province says it will also help municipalities collect unpaid fines by expanding rules requiring drivers to pay outstanding fines before they can renew their licence plates.
