Ontario Throne Speech Outlines Pledge For More Long Term Care Beds

More transparency is the promise of the Doug Ford government.

Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell delivered the Speech from the Throne Thursday afternoon.

The main highlight was a plan to create 15,000 long term care beds over the next five years and an investment of $3.8-billion to address mental health and addictions.

Dowdeswell announced the establishment of a “Commission of Inquiry” to look into the government’s finances.

She says the goal is restore accountability and trust in Ontario’s public funds.

Dowdeswell also read aloud the decision to replace Ontario’s sex ed curriculum to respect parents, students and teachers by getting back to basics.

She says the government will replace the program with a new age appropriate one that is based on real consultation with parents.
