Ontario’s Finance Minister Concerned With Budget

The federal budget promises billions of dollars for infrastructure projects such as roads and public transit.
Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa says he hopes the federal programs will not work counter to Ontario’s public transit plans.
He notes there will be negotiations and they will need to be flexible to make sure the priorities the province has put forward will be met.
In addition, Sousa says the revamped plan for skills training to better align the Canadian workforce with employer needs appears to remove much of the flexibility needed to meet the specific labour market needs.
Sousa says it could force Ontario to divert existing resources that serve under-represented groups to the newly designed program.
