The Progressive Conservatives are raising alarm bells over a significant increase in the number of opioid-related deaths in the province.
Critic Jeff Yurek says there has been a 52% increase in opioid related-deaths in the past year.
He is accusing the government of trying to hide the statistics and the gravity of the situation.
Meantime, Ontario’s Minister of Health admits the report is alarming.
Helena Jaczek says they have created a new opioid emergency task force that will be chaired by the Chief Medical Officer of Health.
The government has also announced that it will make Naloxone kits available for free at participating pharmacies for anyone needing them.
