The Ontario Provincial Police say they are concerned with the number of motor vehicle collisions they’ve seen this summer on
Highway 17.
Inspector Dave Lucas says every weekend it seems the Trans-Canada is closed for a period of time due to a crash.
Lucas says most of the collisions occur on the weekend and are west of Kenora.
He says they are developing a protocol that will give motorists a better idea on how long the highway might have to be closed.
Lucas says they will be using signage and asking officers to speak with motorists waiting in line, keeping them informed about the length of the road closure.
