A potentially dangerous holiday season for people on there snow machines.
Although ice has begun to form on area lakes, many areas are not thick enough for vehicles or snow machines.
Provincial Police in Kenora say a man and a woman went through the ice on Wreck Bay on the morning of Christmas Eve.
In the afternoon of Boxing Day another man went through the ice in Mud Portage on Lake of the Woods.
He called emergency after the accident and was found by Lake of the Woods search and Rescue 3 hours later.
In both cases none of the snow mobilers suffered serious injuries.
Police are asking snowmobilers to avoid travelling at night since it’s hard to see open holes in the ice.
They say that’s the main cause of snowmobile drownings.
For those driving on the ice with their vehicles Constable Guy Beaudry says you should make an escape plan.
Police also suggest snowmobile riders carry ice picks and wear buoyant snowmobile suits if they do cross over ice.
