OPP lay charges following collision east of Ignace

The OPP say they have laid charges in connection to a collision involving two tractor trailer units east of Ignace.

The accident took place Wednesday night about 20 kilometers from the community.

Police say two transports, travelling in opposite directions, collided, when one of the trucks cross the center line.

A 34-year-old woman from Alberta has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

As a result of the accident, there was a fuel spill, and the Ministry of the Environment was on scene to assess and oversee the clean-up.

The highway was closed for several hours, and one lane was opened to alternating traffic to allow clean-up efforts to continue.
