OPP Looking for Help on Cold Case

Today is “International Missing Children Day” – and OPP are hoping someone might have information about a 51-year old cold case.

Back in September of 1966, 2 year old Diane Prevost disappeared during a family outing at Grundy Lake Provincial Park near Parry Sound.

Diane was playing in the sand while her father fished on the dock and her siblings enjoyed the lake. She asked to return to the trailer at the campsite, which was approximately 500 feet from the beach. Her father asked her to wait a moment while he reeled in his line. When he turned to take her back to the campsite, Diane was no longer on the beach.

The family began to search for her immediately, and after about an hour, contacted the OPP for assistance. Despite an extensive search of the park and the lake that spanned more than a month, Diane was not found and has never been seen since.

To date, the OPP investigation has not determined the whereabouts of Diane. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a blue and red checked top with red plaid pants. Diane had a mark on her left knee and a scar on her right foot.

West Parry Sound OPP have produced a short video and are asking the public to share it on social media……

May is International Missing Children’s Month.

Any person with information regarding the disappearance of Diane Prevost should immediately contact your local police service or the Ontario Provincial Police’s Missing Persons and Unidentified Bodies unit at 1-877-934-6363 (9-FINDME) in Canada, at 705-330-4144 internationally, or via email at opp.isb.resolve@opp.ca.
