If you are planning on going out this weekend, make sure you have a safe way home.
OPP are going to have increased patrol over the long weekend on both roadways and water ways.
Sergeant Shelley Garr with the OPP says they have some specific things they will be watching out for.
They’ll be keeping their eyes peeled for what OPP call “The Big Four”: impaired driving, inattentive driving, aggressive driving, and not buckling up your seatbelt.
Garr adds they are also conducting their Move Over Campaign, which requires vehicles to slow down and move over if they see a stopped emergency vehicle on the road.
“The OPP has laid 932 “Move Over” charge so far this year against drivers who failed to slow down and move over when approaching an emergency vehicle,” she notes.
Garr adds failure to slow down and move over can result in a fine ranging from $400 to $2,000, along with three demerit points upon conviction. (File Photo)
